I was there. There wasn’t really a riot….
And I didn’t even know this is what you were all referring to as a riot before I got on tumblr.
Before the starkids came out me and my friend were standing in the street. the police said move two steps back we couldn’t. everyone refused to move. a few people on the opposite side of the street started singing going back to hogwarts. it died very quickly, before the chorus. starkids come out. people start screaming like lunatics. a girl turned to me and said “Who is that?” I said “The guy who played dumbledore in a very potter musical.” She starts screaming on the top of her lungs like a nut job. Two girls who were sitting on the barricade almost fall off only to be caught by the police. Then this bigger cop comes and screams “BACK UP! BACK UP! LEAVE NOW!” to which my friend Deanna screams “ABORT MISSION!” and when we finally get back on the sidewalk I say to a girl named Bridget who I made friends with “I feel like I was just in the middle of a 1960’s protest” she told me that was the best analogy she’s ever heard.
So after that I went home. I was feeling very sick. I walked down the same street as the starkids lol. I didn’t get to see Darren come out but from videos it seemed brief and like he didn’t sign anyone’s posters or playbills. It’s funny how the screaming was less when he came out. Fan girls lungs probably got exhausted from screaming every time there was movement by the stage door.
In my oppion I don’t think this was really a riot.
