Candice Bergen, Chad Kimball, Alice Ripley, Tony Yazbeck, Kerry Butler, Tituss Burgess and more gather for Back to the Drawing Board. The show, organized by director David Alpert, will feature the stars singing songs from animated films. Alpert began these benefit performances as a tribute to his late sister, Gilana Shira Alpert, who passed in 2007. Proceeds benefit organizations dedicated to causes close to Gilana’s heart including equality advocacy, sex education, theatre studies and Holocaust awareness. Playbill’s own Seth Rudetsky’s first YA novel “My Awesome/Awful Popularity Plan” will be released by Random House this week, with Rudetsky and some starry friends – including Broadway favorites Kerry Butler (Catch Me If You Can), Tony nominee Rory O’Malley (Book of Mormon) and Matt Cavenaugh (West Side Story) – assembling for a reading in NYC. Our columnist and video correspondent is mighty busy these days: this week, his new musical Disaster!, based on 1970s disaster movies, opens Off-Broadway at the Triad NYC. I’m really upset right now.

WHAT?

They signed cd’s and sang 3 songs. You needed this bracelet to get a good seat though. It was actually one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I’ve seen the show and met the cast before but I had no idea how hysterical they were. There will be videos to follow, therefore proving my point. Oh I didn’t get a cd (I’ve been spending waaayyyy too much money lately) but just in case you want to know what it looks like there’s a picture of my friends :)
