The Book of Mormon’s Tony nominated leading man Andrew Rannells will join YouTube sensation Miranda Sings for her eighth concert appearance at Birdland. Miranda, the alter ego of Colleen Ballinger, became an Internet comedy sensation with her unabashed self-promotion of her God-awful singing. It’s a hilarious bit and Rannells is sure to bring an extra dimension to the live show. (7PM, Birdland, 315 W. 44th St., btwn. 8th & 9th Aves., $24-$35 plus food/drink minimum, info/tickets)
American Fantasy 2: A Tribute to Hollywood’s Greatest Musicals.
Theater has and will always have a special place in my heart. Especially community or any type of theater that is completely voluntary. Where all of the money that is earned from the show goes right back to the theater. To me theater is one of the most honest, and rawest displays of human emotion expressed through so many creative mediums.
Tonight I saw my friends show, which was a review (a show composed of many musical numbers) and although there was no underlying story, no hard hitting plot it was still fantastic. In every song, in every skit, in every microsecond I saw talented people doing what they truly loved to do. I saw people who took time out of their hectic lives to commit to something that makes them happy.
It was a fantastic show, with an incredibley talented cast and I am so glad I was able to witness it all.
Great Job, Deanna. You have absolutely no idea how proud of you I am.
